چکیده
Objectives: This study is designed to explore factors associated with death in newborns persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN). Methods: The clinical data of PPHN cases the past ten years from a neonatal center China were retrospectively collected and analyzed, death-related attributable analyzed by binary stepwise logistic regression analysis. Results: A total 161 neonates included this study, mortality rate 18.0% (29/161). Multivariate analysis indicated that cesarean delivery was negatively infants (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 0.289, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.104 – 0.803), while premature rupture membranes (PROM) OR 4.032, CI 1.32 - 12.32), congenital lung developmental abnormalities/congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) 12.65, 1.088 147.068), respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) 4.802, 1.512 15.251), inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) 12.377, 3.22 47.576) norepinephrine 2.891, 1.03 8.118) independent higher risk PPHN. Conclusions: Caesarean medical indication an protective factor against PROM, abnormalities/CDH, RDS, iNO,

Prevalence of Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn and Associated Factors in Term Neonates Born in Southeast of Iran, 2020
Background and purpose: Infants with persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN) are readmitted to hospital three times more than other infants or die after discharge. The disease imposes a high cost on families and health systems. In this study, for the first time, the prevalence of PPHN and associated factors were investigated in mature neonates born in southeast of Iran. Materials and methods...
متن کاملRisk factors for persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn
In utero, pulmonary blood flow is closely circumscribed and oxygenation and ventilation occur via the placental circulation. Within the first few breaths of air-breathing life, the perinatal pulmonary circulation undergoes a dramatic transition as pulmonary blood flow increases 10-fold and the pulmonary arterial blood pressure decreases by 50% within 24 hours of birth. With the loss of the plac...
متن کاملPersistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn
Introduction: Persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) was first described by Gersony et al 1 of persistence of the fetal circulation in 1969. It is a clinical syndrome characterized by respiratory distress, hypoxemia, elevated pulmonary vascular resistance and a right to left shunting of venous blood across the foramen ovale and/or ductus arteriosus. The etiology of PPHN is not ...
متن کاملPersistent Pulmonary Hypertension in the Newborn
Persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) is characterized by elevated pulmonary vascular resistance resulting in right-to-left shunting of blood and hypoxemia. PPHN is often secondary to parenchymal lung disease (such as meconium aspiration syndrome, pneumonia or respiratory distress syndrome) or lung hypoplasia (with congenital diaphragmatic hernia or oligohydramnios) but can al...
